What Is a Digital Nomad Visa?
A Digital Nomad Visa allows you to work remotely online while living in a foreign country.
These are usually short-term visas that don’t offer a viable path to becoming a citizen.
You’re also not allowed to work locally within the country you’re in.
Here’s 10 Countries With Great Weather Offering Digital Nomad Visas
1. Croatia

Croatia launched a digital nomad visa in 2021.
For you to qualify, you have to have —
Proof of remote work
A good amount of yearly income
Health insurance
Security background checks

2. Costa Rica

Costa Rica is in the process of rolling out a digital nomad visa that allows remote workers to live there for up to a year.
Requirements will include:
A stable monthly income of $3,000 ($36,000 a year) in the 12 months preceding filing your application.

3. Mexico

Mexico has a 6-month long tourist visa you can use if you don’t plan on living long term or becoming an ex-pat. It’s perfect for people who live a nomadic life.
Mexico has a Temporary Residency Visa which many digital nomads, who turn into ex-pats tend to prefer, because it allows them to live there for up to a year, and is renewable.
For the temporary visa, you have to prove you make up to $1,620 a month or have a bank balance of $27,000.
4. Portugal

Portugal offers the D7 Passive Income Visa, suitable for digital nomads.
This visa allows you to live in Portugal for up to a year and can be extended to two years at a time.
The visa costs €83 and €72 resident permit fee.
The main requirement for this visa is to be able to show proof of sufficient income of €600 per month, coming from a variety of streams.
You have to be able to show and prove where that money comes from.
D7 Passive Income Visa offers a viable path to permanent residency in Portugal, on the condition you can pass a Portuguese language exam.
5. Malta

Malta, the sunny European Island nation, has a digital nomad visa called the Nomad Residency Permit.
This is a 1-year visa open to remote workers from NON-EU countries.
You have to prove an income of €2700 per month plus a rental contract or property purchase.

6. St. Lucia

Saint Lucia Non-Immigrant Visa allows you to live and work remotely for 12-months on a multiple entry visa.
This visa is relatively cheap and comes with no minimum income requirements.
However, you have to declare the amount of money you plan on bringing into Saint Lucia.
In 2021, St. Lucia started the Live It program which allowed tourists to extend their stay for 6 weeks while working remotely.
7. Dominica

Dominica has announced a Digital Nomad visa program called WIN Work In Nature.
The Work in Nature (WIN) Program enables you to live, work and rejuvenate in the tropical paradise of Dominica for up to 18 months.
The income requirement for the visa is USD $50,000 per year.
Requirements Include —
Police Records for the past five years
Health insurance
Bank statements

8. Panama

In 2021 the Panamanian government created the Short Stay Visa for Remote Workers.
The minimum income required is $36,000.
Panama’s new short-term visa allows foreigners to stay in Panama for a minimum period of 9 months while working remotely.
An extension is available for an additional 9 months, making the maximum stay permitted 18 months.
For remote workers who want to stay longer in Panama, they can check out the friendly nations visa, available to 50 nationalities.
9. The Bahamas

The Bahamas Islands have launched the Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay (BEATS) program.
It allows people to live there for 12 months, but this is extendable to 3 years.
You need a letter from your current employer or proof of self-employment and income to prove your income.

10. Brazil

Brazil now has a one-year digital nomad visa that can be renewed for an additional year.
The minimum monthly income requirement for this visa is US$1,500 or a bank balance of at least US$18,000.
The process can be done at any Brazilian embassy or consulate around the world, and usually takes between 3 to 4 weeks to process.
